EMS by the numbers

Strength By The Numbers

As a meathead would ask: Do you even lift, bro? Our answer should definitely be a strong “yes!” knowing all the benefits resistance training brings to the body, mind, and quality of life. We’ve covered many of the benefits of resistance training in our previous blog but strength is the gift that keeps on giving, so here are a few more with some numbers.

The source for many of these statistics comes from the Fitt Insider.

Resistance training, weight lifting, calisthenics or bodyweight exercises, and now EMS fitness all produce more strength, increase muscle endurance, improve athletic performance, reduce risk of injury, help shift body composition towards a leaner physique, improve bone density, and many more, but here are a few other standouts:

Longevity: Research has shown that dedicating just 30 to 60 minutes per week to strength training can reduce all-cause mortality by a substantial 10 to 17 percent.

Sleep quality: We’ve uncovered a fascinating link between exercise and sleep quality. Those who engage in strength training routines reported gaining an extra 40 minutes of precious shut-eye per night compared to their aerobic exercise-only counterparts, who managed just 23 extra minutes.

Depression: Resistance training, regardless of the extent of strength gains, has been shown to diminish symptoms of depression and anxiety in adults and even delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

Shockingly, 70 percent of U.S. adults fail to meet the CDC’s recommended guidelines for muscle-strengthening exercises, with a staggering 57.8 percent not participating in any strength training at all.

Muscle mass naturally declines by 3 to 8 percent per decade after age 30, making weight training indispensable.

Strength, once seen primarily as a path to aesthetics, has now evolved into an essential component of holistic longevity. This shift is not just about physical health but also mental well-being.

How can EMS fitness help?

Whole-body electrical muscle stimulation is the most efficient and convenient way to introduce resistance training into your routine. In just 20 minutes per session, you can achieve significant muscle activation and strength gains, making it an ideal choice for individuals with busy schedules. One session equates to roughly 90 minutes of weight lifting at the gym, but some studies have shown strength increases comparable to 4 hours of traditional weight training.

Furthermore, WB-EMS allows for precise targeting of specific muscle groups, enabling tailored workouts that align with individual goals and needs. Whether you’re a beginner building a foundation of strength or an experienced athlete looking to enhance performance, WB-EMS can cater to your requirements.

Incorporating WB-EMS into your fitness regimen addresses many of the barriers mentioned earlier, such as injuries, lack of time, and limited access to equipment. The technology has to be operated by an EMS-certified personal trainer to ensure both safety and effectiveness.

As the fitness industry continues to evolve and cater to the growing interest in strength training, WB-EMS stands out as an innovative and efficient way for individuals of all fitness levels to reap the benefits of resistance exercise and combat the natural muscle loss associated with aging. Whether used as a standalone workout or in conjunction with traditional strength training, WB-EMS offers a promising path toward improved health, fitness, and longevity.
